The most important thing is have a team of 24/7/365 support staff that will help your client solve their problem whenever needed.
You can promote your hosting by building reputation first at major forum such as DP and webhostingtalk

The market is saturated with kids running a host from their bedroom with a cPanel reseller account. Anyone can start a web hosting company, but you have to offer something different to survive. Most hosts are out of business within a few months of start up.

Tough to survive and the competition out there is too much.
All you need is something different from the crowd, and top notch support system for you customers.

This niche is very much saturated. It is very much difficult to get clients even for a free web hosting company.

Check out BitShare.com for loads of free eBooks etc. I'm sure you can find one on hosting, they have a wide range of topics.

Here are a few steps to get you started:

    1) Purchase a reseller account/dedicated server/colocate a server. If you can't manage it then look for a management company for example PlatinumServerManagement or Webbycart. They will secure and optimize your server.
    2) Setup your website. Purchase WHMCS/ClientExec and set it up. You can find documentations on them from their websites. Don't forget a live chat software like ProvideSupport.
    3) Make a plan on how to get clients. Why should they buy your services instead of others?
    4) Be ready to work hard and stay up nights without sleeping.

Very difficult to get new clients, doesn't matter what price you have, 1 $ or 5 $ for package. Only the time can solve this issue. If you get 1 client / month when you are new is good. Why i said the time ? you must be ready to pay your costs for years to build a reputation for your brand. People will not buy if you are new unless you offer hosting for nulled scripts, copyrighted files. But a host allowing illegal materials is not a serious host, can anytime be shut down.

I guess you can find a better niche. Buy an ebook here on DP :p and get rich. I'm kidding, I think web hosting niche is saturated and you need to shine if you want to get some clients.
