Starting a online radiostation - legal facts?

Hi,

Anyone here having experience with streaming audio media distribution on the internet also known as online radio stations?

My qustion is, what are the legal guidelines to follow when you want to start this kind of business? Anyone from US doing it? How about europe?

How do we get the license to broadcast copyrighted/owned audio materials legally?
