Hello guys After lurking the forums of DP, I finally decided to start on a website. The website is going to be a tutorial website, on a subject that I am really knowledgeable at - Zen Cart As you many of you know, Zen Cart is a very popular open source e-commerce software next to OsCommerce. I will be writing step by step guides, from installing zen cart to configuring the cart, with various tricks that I discovered myself. I will be promoting the site by ranking on the 1st page of Google, and also providing with free themes with a link to my site in the footer. But the question is, which software should I be using? I was thinking of Joomla, but if any of you own a "tutorial site", please let me know what the best software would be for me. To add on to that, I will be using the domain zencartutorials.com, but I would like to know if it will conflict with any legal stuff, by using the word "zen cart" in my domain. Thank you guys
Crowdsource it and have someone else build it for a portion of any royalties. Check out the second link in my sig.
Zencart is best we have used that for several clients. We have also done a tutorial website where we suggest Content Management System (CMS) is better. We can do this job easily.
Here is the example of the site that we are working on www.expertguidance.ca/exg/ dipesh2603@gmail.com
We are using Joomla for our website (check signature below). Took me 1 week to study this CMS, although I have already setup dozens of wordpress sites previously. There are lots of tutorials too about Joomla. So I'm pretty sure you will be able to setup your site in a zip.
Wordpress is the obvious choice - in order to get started quick ... if you have trouble scaling, it's easy to move from WP to another system ... Go with something you can move away from - it's hard with many of the smaller, or not so well known content management systems and blogging platforms. Personally I'd set up something quick with WP, and start getting ready for a port to Drupal.
I concur. Wordpress is probably your best choice. Gives you excellent SEO, stable product, excellent anti-spam, etc. Use the All-in-One SEO pack and don't use category in your permalink, since it makes it difficult to change category stucture later on, if you do. Enjoy the simple life. Rich
