Hi all, I am starting a new web file hosting website but I am a bit confused about the hosting that I will need. First of all the script has a feature called multi server supporting. you can add servers for more storage capacity. Now the problem that I am confused is this. Do I need to set the script on a dedicated server (simple one, no for storing the files in it) and add a second one, lets say with 100mbps unmetered bandwidth dedicated server for storage? OR Go with a full 100mbps unmetered bandwidth dedicated server and for beginning 1TB storage on the same server? Also what I do not understand fully is when the script is hosted on a server (based in US) and with a different storage 100mbps unmetered bandwidth dedicated server (based in EU) and a user (located in US too) request to DL a file from the scripts' server, what is suppose the script do? Fetch the file from the EU server through the servers' script in order the user to download it? (using the bandwidth from the script server and also the storage server?) Does the script server needs to be on a 100mbps port also for not dropping speed with users? Relevant question with a EU user DL from the server script in US, will the speed drop? My opinion is: Starting with a dedicated server for only the script to run normally without causing problems (cpu or attacks) and dedicate servers elsewhere for storing the files. Sorry for confusing you too but I cannot explain it more clearly thank you in advance.
Go for this coz its important to keep your main server load balance. when the script is hosted on a server (based in US) and with a different storage 100mbps unmetered bandwidth dedicated server (based in EU) and a user (located in US too) request to DL a file from the scripts' server. For this you need a colocation service to make the US user download at local speed 100mbps regardless where your files is store at.
Thanks for your reply mentos, but why do I need a colocation for? Co-location would be needed if I am going to buy the ranks to add my own servers. if I am right. Why go with co-location I do not get it. The 100mbps port is needed only on the storage server or both of them? Can you please answer me how the file hosting sites works after a user request to DL a file? The route the make and bandwidth needed between the servers.
