Starting A New Blog

I am looking to start a tennis blog as I love the game and enjoy discussing it.

I have a full time job and this is more a fun thing to do and see how it goes.

My main worry is I am not sure my writing is that strong. Reading other blogs and posts it can seem as if other people make it look easy.

Just wondered if other people had similar worries starting out and if it just a case of writing as much as possible and the more you do it hopefully the more comfortable you get with it?

    Thanks

It is hard, as its human nature to think that, it can be intimidating, but if you can try to forget about those bigger blogs, as you have said the more often the post the better you get at it, those other bigger blogger have been doing it years, they know what works and what doesn't. Its all about experience, the only way to gain experience is to experience it.

Just keep writing the way you want to write, if you would enjoy reading the post there is going to be people out there who would would also enjoy reading it.

    Hope this helped.
    Cheers
    John

    Thanks John.

    That does help.

I will just start writing and see how it goes. The main thing is it should be enjoyable and I am not doing it for a living so no real pressure.

Yeah exactly, spot on because people go into blogging to try and make $$$ they really do get hit by the pressure, if you just go into it just for a bit a fun your chances of success are actually higher.

    Good luck with the blog.

It depends whether you want to pursue it as a passion and hobby or turn it into a business. If you blog is just to share your passion about the game, go ahead and write like you speak. People relate to that especially if it is sincerely coming from someone who knows and loves the game.

However, if you want to pursue it as a business and be seen as an expert then you should treat it like one and get a VA or writer to write the topics for you. You choose the topics based on your research of what people are looking for and then get it written. Once the blog becomes popular, monetize it and it will pay for itself for all the outsourcing work you get done.

    Hope that helps.

Writing certainly comes easier for some people than others. The thing you have to realize is that you will never appeal to everyone, there are certain styles for every type of person out there. The best thing to do is to create the blog and write in your own style that comes natural to you. This will allow you to create YOUR OWN following and community for you blog, based on readers that appreciate YOUR writing and will be loyal to your opinions and recommendations.

Practice at it and you'll get better at it. If your wanting to take it a bit more seriously you could even purchase some courses on article writing.
