Starting a music search engine ( legal or not)

    I am thinking of starting a music search engine that allows user to search for music files in the web. Will not be hosting the songs in server. just wondering if it is legal.

    Advice appreciated.

    i see nothing wrong so long as you do not host and it is not a torrent site

    It is not "illegal" as long as you're not hosting the files but there are so many music engines out there...whether or not it'll actually be worth it will depend on your creativity and marketing strategy.

    i heard news abt movie sites linking to videos and getting caught, can anyone advise me regarding this? how is it different from music? they are not hosting the files on their server though, they are providing links.

    Its ok as long as you using offshore hosting to host it.
    And the point is don't over grown your site,coz when you're site is popular,government will charge you for provide link to mp3 link.
