I am a 16 year old teenager who wants to start a website selling Jade to make profit. My aunt will provide me with the stock. Any advice as to where i should start from? host from? layout? money process? professional? any other tips? -Thank You
There are many hosts out there. I have used Godaddy.com and Webair.com for most of my clients. For credit card processing, you could stick with Paypal or Google Checkout since it doesn't sound like you will have a big inventory? But obviously, you will need it to be in your aunt's name for legal reasons (16 year olds don't usually have merchant accounts). Tips: K.I.S.S. or keep it simple stupid. You need web hosting that provides a database. If you have no code or design experience I would use this http://www.prestashop.com/ These folks have good hosting plans. http://www.hostingmetro.com/ I have used them for almost 5 years without issue. I have a few test servers hosted with them. They have really fast support as well. They are quite friendly because they are not a massive company. To be clear you need a linux server with a mysql database to install prestashop. Once that is done you can simply login to the software, add products, descriptions, categories, etc. Its quite simple really. It handles everything for you such as paypal payments, etc. You can get someone to install really cheap. It is very easy to use and the soundest shopping cart around that is easy to deal with. Magento Commerce is the best right now but it requires some advanced scripting knowledge to deploy it properly. hope that helps, if you catch me running around DP you can usually get me to install it for you real quick for free. I would go with some type of site with keywords related to were the jade is from since people really like to know if it is real or not. As I understand allot of jade comes from Australia so it might be wise to get info on the specifics also travelers buy Jade many times after seeing it on vacation so getting some links or adds onto Australia travel sites could be helpful
