Hey, I just started a web hosting company, what's the best way to generate massive leads, gain profit, and how do I start with finding customers, and what is a good budget to spend with adwords?
There is no sure-shot way to generate massive leads, it clearly depends on your niche / specialization. The best way to start finding customers is your own acquaintance, friend and family. If you have reputation on webmaster forum, you can also gain some leads there (have you tried advertising your product in DigitalPoint's BST section?) Web hosting, ranging from shared hosting to dedicated hosting is priced as the highest (most expensive) click-rate in adwords. Therefore, you will probably need thousands to get a good amount of leads from there.
From my experience if yo have a good service and good customer support your best bet to getting your first customers is through forums and the addition of an affiliate program. You will get good customers this way who are activly sharing in forums like this one promoting your business for you.
Not going to name names But I used to work for a huge shared web hosting provider that owns and manages various different hosting companies, and throughout my days there they actually created a new hosting company and added it to their collection and they started from scratch with it. Their tactic was to get listed on the various "top 10 web host" lists and affiliate marketing and referrals. Yes, "top 10 web host" lists are a sham, but they really generate a lot of customers FAST. You could try looking into trying to get listed on these websites. You can find them just searching Google. However, this can get very expensive. But in the long run if you have a successful reliable web hosting company, then you you'll make all your money back and more. With the affiliate marketing, you offer people to put banners on their website (which is great for SEO because you get a link to your site), and when someone clicks on the banner and goes to your site, if they signup then the affiliate gets a set amount. In our case the set amount was $100 per signup which meant we were actually not making any profit from the user creating the account. But anyways, I'm sure getting listed on the "top 10 web hosts" sites are a lot more expensive than this. Referrals aren't too big of a deal could just offer 5 or 10 bucks. But if you got the $$, this would be the best way to get started. You're losing a lot of money to get your customers. But you're getting traffic, building links, and if you provide a good service to your customers that you payed for, then they're going to stay for many many years to come, and recommend your hosting company to their friends or other on the internet and you'll organically get customers.
