yes all the networks i have on there work fine...my web designer have me some fancey computer language pages to search through and enter some network codes so I could get more networks but frankly idk how to do it but if you have some simple understanding you add many more networks
The only thing wrong with your site lowboman, is you need to know the reciving persons service provider. I have seen free sites that do not need this. If you site requires the Service provider, your site works by sending txts though email. The problem with this methord, is you are not in total control of the how the txts are sent. When you own your own gateway, you can change the header and include links back to your site in the text. You can even send wap-push messages, which you cannot do when you are using emails such as or '0798888324@airtelkk.com' I have a list of all providers that this works with. T-Mobile -- and vodaphone, "can" still work in the uk. but its sent through the usa, and is very unreliable. "Three", o2, and the rest -- will not work. I will post the list when i find it. But the best thing you can do is pay for a sms gateway. It will cost about 4p per text. Limit it to so many per person. Either via IP, or via Account Only. Like 10 a day. Paying for a sms gateway will let you include links/ads in the footer. What i did was -- Find out how much one of my established sites was earning. Say, $5 a day. Give half for SMS, and keep the other. So i set the total amount of txts the site could send each day before it just didnt work anymore. To begin with, lose some cash. Let it send a few 100 a day. This will get the site spread around the net. Post the link on forums. it will soon spread. Then when you limit it to the amount you can afford to lose each day. (i did half my profits), people will still visit, and you will get people saying "it worked for me", when its actually blocked for the rest of the day. I plan to change mine soon, to allow so many, then fail so many, then allow so many, etc. Until the max i want to spend per day is met. -- that way people will always be checking the site, and trying to use it, as it works. (but in some ways, it dosnt) Hope this helps mate. I know it may sound "dodgy" only allowing a set amount, and not offering a 100% reliable service, but it works for me, and i bet most sms gateway sites limit in some ways. Cheers
I owned a network of 11 SMS sites. It's completely free. It uses a a common mail function to send the messages and it is completely free for you to use, but the same fee is required for the recipient.
This is my site that you can take a look at: www.sendmytext.info . I believe I have the script somewhere in my script folder. The script offers it free to most services and some countries I believe. It gets a small amount of traffic though for never being advertised which is good. I could only imagine if would push it as far as advertising.
How do you own your own gateway? I was always curious but didn't have an active project to invest the time to find out how you got your own gateway. Is this a gateway account you pay per message for?
Yes, i pay per say 10,000 txt, from a company, then i limit my site to only send what i want. They provide the info on setting php up to connect to their service. There is a big list in the dev shed wap forum of differnt gateways/companies you can use. Just make sure your credits dont expire, or they are more then like 8p per text.
An sms gateway is an actual bit of hardware, that physically sends the txts. There is a bit on the web about them -- but i imagine they'd be well expensive, much more then buying txts off a company. What you could do -- and i did until i worked out it is a waste of time, when you can buy txts in bulk cheaper from someone else. Is get a contract phone, with unlimited txts. Download some software that allows a spare pc to work as a gateway. Then all texts are sent though the phone. You'll need a phone that allows this. I used a 6680. Dont forget that, your not actually allowed to do this by the terms of the network, so if you get found out -- you'll lose the contract. Take a look at Kannel sms gateway if you want to give this a go
So the software I download runs on my PC but I configure it to act as if it were the phone. I don't actually physically use the phone as part of the gateway, right? I suppose I could do this for proof of concept and send tens of messages in testing that will be concealed in the hundreds my daughter sends. Eventually if I do buy the hardware do I just need a connection to the internet or do I need arrangement with a third party? This would be primarily for the US.
I wonder whether trying to help people is worth it! YOU CANNOT SEND FREE SMS TO UK MOBILE PHONES (UNLESS YOU ARE PAYING FOR THEM AND COVERING THE COST OF MESSAGING). Free SMS does exist on different networks around the world, BUT NOT IN THE UK.
