Hi guys , very good forum i discovered it 2 hours ago and i`m still finding interesting posts, so this is my first one.

I intend to make a celebrity pictures forum in my country (EU one..), and i have a couple of questions:

    1) The forum posts will contain copyright pictures from magazines , since the photos will not be on the server i need to have offshore hosting?

    2) is hostgattor a good webhost for this? ...I know they allow nude content and linking to nude content but will they shut down my site if they get a complaint? (best to answer someone with this problem)

    3) I notice that this kind of forums have a lot of trafic but no banners - How do they make money since there are no links , banners...?

    4) Do they make any seo?

    Thanks

    Good morning,

I'm not going to be able to answer all of your questions, but since your post is a day or so old and you've not gotten a reply yet, I figure that a few answers is better than none:

    1) The forum posts will contain copyright pictures from magazines , since the photos will not be on the server i need to have offshore hosting?

You shouldn't, at least not in theory. It's not illegal to host the links to these files, as long as you're not hosting the actual content. If you think of the various software piracy sites out there, that's their strategy. They contain the links, but do not host the actual files (they leave that to a site like Rapidshare).

    2) is hostgattor a good webhost for this? ...I know they allow nude content and linking to nude content but will they shut down my site if they get a complaint? (best to answer someone with this problem)

Some may disagree with me on this, but my advise would be to contact them, tell them what you have in mind, and let them give you their feedback as to if what you're speaking of would be a problem. By doing so, you're showing that you're not looking to be a malicious user that's causing them problems, and adding to your own credibility. As a worst case, purchase two inexpensive shared hosting accounts at different providers (assuming that's the type of service you're looking for), and use one as a backup, and one to host your site.

    3) I notice that this kind of forums have a lot of trafic but no banners - How do they make money since there are no links , banners...?

Have you ever checked out the main page for Digitalpoint? I hadn't myself until a few weeks ago -

    http://www.digitalpoint.com/

I'm sure they get a lot of publicity from the forums, which drives traffic to the main site, which helps them sell their products. It's a great strategy, really.

    Good luck to you!

well the idea is there will be a thread where will be posted copyrighted images some of them adult , not porn from magazines, thats why i asked about the hosting (there will be links to the server where the images are...)

There are plenty of nude celebs forum where there is no banner but is massive traffic and they don`t have google .

What is behind the decision to use a .eu tld? Are you going to focus on an 'European Union' celeb? You are better off going with a .com, in my opinion. If you are looking for targeted geographical visitors for a certain celeb, you may be better off with a .country domain tld. Example, .ar for an Argentinian actress

He didn't say it was a .eu just an EU country. I suspect he will be using his own ccTLD.
.eu has it's uses, and is being widely used by companies with a span EU presence. My site www.bikehire.eu is just one example of the use of the .eu tld

Take a look at all the 'Celeb' fan sites, you won't be sued, don't stress it. Just be sure if you use copywriten materials to cite the sources. Give credit when credit is due.

    thanks for your answer ,
here is the mail i have send to hostgator and their answer:

    Hi

I `m planing to take the baby hosting plan and i want to know if i could have a nude, adult picture forum (not porn pictures), the pictures will only be linked from others servers so there will not be any image on the hostgator server.

I want to know that is the hostgator policy about adult sites if this forum is possible?

    Thanks

    Hi,

You can also have adult sites if you wish.
Our policy is against child pornography and not adult sites.
