My business doesn't exist yet. But I came up with the idea at random. I thought big and the idea hit me one day out of the blue. Everything else fell into place and is still falling into place. Now it's just a matter of putting the plan in motion.

Start something with good vision. A person should be visionary enough to see the state of his business from its starting to coming years. Then his business will be successful.

You are right, but actually running the business is work. I love marketing, so the only work I do is meeting with and billing clients. All the "work" I really enjoy doing.

If you have knowledge on particular niche then you can take initiative to start. Early it will turn into big business.

In starting a business and choosing what kind of business, it must be something of your interest, or your craft. If you know a lot one the kind of business that you started, it will be easy for you to manage possible conflicts that you might encounter.

I turned my job into a business. I worked for another accountant for years and on the side did website design. When she retired I went into business for myself. Accounting is my "main business" I suppose you could say but doing IM and website design is a great way to earn extra money for my business.

You don't think: I need to think of a business idea, the idea is if you get struck by inspiration with an idea, you create a business for it.

    Sorry if that sounds confusing.

Anyways, my story: My sites are based on web industries (niche's) that i see as lacking at the moment, and i make sites to try and progress past that lack, to completely annihilate my competition (the nice way off course :))

When deciding what kind of business to open you should pick something that you enjoy. If you like your business then you will give it your all, as oppose to just doing whats necessary to make a profit. I made a list of different areas that interest me and then I picked my favorite topic and turned that into a business. Best of luck to all business owners during these harsh economic times.

You should start a business related to something that you're passionate about.

This is important to avoid you from losing faith in what you're doing. Observe other businesses that are already established in that industry so that you can follow / improve their strategies for your own business.
