I am using WP for my all blogs so i recommend WP to you Easy to handle. Adsense earning depends on content of your blog and traffic. There are so many free templates available for WP. You can find them easily through search at google. I know one site topwpthemes.com where so many WP themes available. DON.
I would recommend WP, there are tons of templates, and do not limit yourself to wordpress.com, just get a free web hosting, install your own, get a domain name, you will have much more flexibility this way.

WP all the way. WP has way more content and way more plugins, it is also more flexible to feed your needs. It has a great support team and it is used by thousands of people. if u are considering to start with free blogs and use adsense to monetize your site, i think blogger will be the good one. for the paid hosting WP is better.

WP still remain the best choice, if you want to try-out, you can use their WP dot com, which is free to register and free to use their service, limitation there is, and if you can, just host your own domain and use the WP on your own domain. As for Plugin and themes, theres a lot can be found on the net today.
