Starting a blog

    Hi all

Do you all have blogs as well as static sites? I was considering creating a blog about my progress so far and then my future progress working online. Do you think this is something that others may be interested in following, say, newbies who are looking to start making money online?

Hmm... John Chow, Shoemoney, Colin Lahoy, Joel Comm, Super Affiliate, Uber Affiliate...

No one would be interested in your blog in a crowded niche unless your good at promoting and/or offer good advice and make lots of money.

I think you should do it only for personal reasons and not think of it as a way to make extra cash/ get more traffic. Look at is as a sort of diary, a place for you to set goals for yourself and explain how you worked through some of the problems that always arise.

You really need to find a niche that you enjoy and will update it with at least 1 post daily with 2-3 being the best. It gets hard after awhile to keep it up if you do not have a passion for it. Like said above do not make a website about making money online unless you actually are unless you want to lie about it like a lot of bloggers even a few larger ones. Just put something on your website that shows your goal to make $65k a month and then people will all sign up to your blog and listen to everything you say.

Blogs are always a good idea. If nothing else, you will get the links.

find another less-competitive niche. online earning/money making/internet marketing are very competitive niches. top blogs in these niches are already a thousand miles ahead so you better go for a niche where you have better chances of succeeding and eventually earning some income.

it won't be easy but if you have interest in that niche and you do consistently posts, you will soon be getting more and more traffic. don't also focus on earnings at first. make your blog very interesting so you will have regular readership, then that is the time to focus on monetizing your site.

Well I have created a blog on how to earn money online and I have to say it doesn't have much traffic but only about 30-40 uniques a day but they are returning and growing daily without much promotion. I would just say if you are going to build a blog make posts that others will follow to make money online and keep it quality. Quality over quantity any day.

will happily share my experiences... i have a few blogs which are hand written content and have a loyal growing following I then have a large portfolio of robo/autoblogs which are niches but most of which tie into my hand written sites i call these feeder sites and are purely for SEO purposes and this works well, i use a piece of software to create these and they all contain unique content without me doing a thing!. I also have a number of autoblogs which make good money on their own.

i think that most people who will follow your blog will do so if you can prove you make money online and know what you are talking about... so if you are confident about your abilities then give it a go.

Of course, a lot. You can go for as many as Blogs and simply promote it through Google Adsense! That is it.

    Hi guys

Thanks for the advice. I am still trying to find a niche that I am passionate about that I think others may also be passionate about. I have decied to let go of the work from home/make money online thing and find something I enjoy talking, writing about. I think as Eruct said keeping the blog as more of a diary for myself to set goals and look back at to find out how I overcame hurdles, etc.

Start a blog, but make it for yourself, and don't expect for a second to make any money from blogging for a long long time.

Yes, I also agree with it being a heavily populated niche. However, it would be a different story if your blog was full of good content and entertaining. Making people come back for more is key. Don't go to heavy on the 'make me a millionaire"aspect because there is definitely too much about that already.

Do you mean dont start a blog at all or dont start one for money? I dont think starting a blog for my own purpose would make me look like an idiot?!
