Starting a band fansite

As the title says. I'd like to start one for an up-and-coming band that doesn't have one yet. Who's got experience? Build from scratch, or are there templates? What kind of scripts are usually used?

    Thanks in advance.

I know someone who made one. Well it was for their band, but still.

    http://www.twodayrule.com/

It's pretty much the same as it was a few years back though, just updates the pages with new content every so often.

There will be templates out somewhere, you will just need to find some. Building from scratch is often the best solution though (as long as you are good at it)

I don't know if there are any specific templates out there for bands, but you can have a look at http://www.oswd.org/ for free templates. I found that most band sites are very unique, however.

As for script that you would need to use, it really depends on what you want. You may not need anything other than html and css if you just need your basic website.

What genre of music is the band? It could really affect what the site would look like.

Metal. I'm looking for the typical tour section with dates and an archive; fan section with pictures, reviews, stories; a forum; a gallery; a video section (with external links); links page; lyrics, discography.

If you are not in the band then you need to be somewhat careful on publishing things as you are not the copyright owner (esp lyrics/ videos etc)

Other than that it is a case of buying or writing the template and buying or writing the functionality you say that you want. It also depends a little on what the band has themselves, if they have a website with XML/RSS feeds then it is easy to incorporate things yourself but if they dont you will have to manually add as needed.

    Thanks for the input.
I know the singer of the band and I have recently met the rest of the band. They are really great with their fans and appreciate any support.
As far as copyright, that's why I was thinking about only adding external links (like YouTube).

if you dont know how to make a nice lookign site yourself then use a free template or RVSITEBUILDER (Free on most cpanel hosts)

If you are willing to pay for someone to make it then pm me.

Or if you need hosting and want this (Rvsitebuilder) tool then also pm me as i can offer that.

Rvsitebuilder is a wysiwyg editor looks alot like microsoft word. You just choose a template (very nice templates+flash templates) then you just copy the test you want to edit and write is very simple =)
