Hello, I have a well established site, high traffic site, where 60% of my traffic comes from G. Two days ago, I started using G's sitemaps. I made the choice in the console to associate the site with http://www.site instead of http://site Today, my site has basically vanished from G's results. Frightenting. My site isn't spammy, or a link farm or anything like that, and the site has unique content. I still see that site: shows my pages, and they don't show supplemental. So a little freaked out here, and I am wondering if making this change in sitemaps could cause a (hopefully) temporary loss in traffic? Thanks for any insight!
This is a dangerous time to make any assumptions about Google traffic - good, bad or otherwise. There seems to be a lot going on.
That's correct. My PR is ZERO from PR3. Also, traffic goes down for one site and increased for another.
Remember - Google Traffic is a Zero Sum Game - for every loser, there is a winner. Someone is in the top 10 for any given key phrase.
I think you traffic dropping and sitemap are 2 different things with no relationship between each other, they were just happened the same time.
Thank you for your input everyone. I know G is going through a big flux right now so I guess I'll wait to see how it plays out.
My site is only a bunch of 50K pages articles which I bought some times ago. I submit the sitemap and google index them like crazy (2 pages per minute). It showed almost 2K pages at the first couple weeks, then it's vanishing again. But, the most important for me is, I know what keywords more precisely that my site is strong at.
Right. G has just updated their index, so the change in sitemaps may have nothing to do with the drop in rankings.
