Started a Webdesign Company- Need Tips/Precautions etc to be taken

I started a webdesign company as a hobby and now am at a stage where it has indeed expanded.

some of the questions I had were:
-What are some of the things from your experience I need to take care of?
- How do I make sure websites I have designed are safe and any precautions besides backups needs to be done?


As of now, I have bluehost $6/mo hosting and it host all my clients (15 websites). Is there something else I need to take care of?

 

You can good idea from surfing internet about what type of precausions should be taken in webdesign company.

Payment, some people who use paypal issue refunds after paying so you get 0.00$ and paypal turns a blind eye

 

Just be good with your costumers and etc, they will be good back to you.

 

A site that is easy-to-use always encourages visitors to stay and read your content. For site with long pages of content this is very crucial as the amount of scrolling required is reduced. Suppose your site doesn't look good for a particular resolution it is very probable that the visitor will close the browser window feeling that the web page is not for their viewing. Designing stretch layouts that fit any screen resolution ensures that you know all your visitors see a visually appealing and professional site.

 

Always take deposits. There are scammers about.

 

Avoid clients where multiple people(like a panel of people) decide over a design. Most of the times its a mess.

 

Every client will need professional support, cheap webdesign price, fast delivery and great result from Webdesign Company. You can make any survey to make sure what your client’s needs are and how to make them satisfied. Good luck for your business.

 

I'd say correct grammar and professionalism is most needed. The broken English and immature responses people receive on this message board is out of hand.

 

One aspect often overlooked is insurance in case any clients or even third parties take legal action.

 

This business is a ROUGH business as I have experienced in the past.

I hope you do well in it, as the competition is extremely STEEP.

Make sure that the scope of work is clear and always try to charge some type of deposit. I have found that your good clients will pay the deposit and the people that just want to take and run will do just that.

Realise that you are one of a million plus people touting for the same business and whatever price you quote there is ALWAYS someone willing to do it cheaper... you cannot sell on price alone

 

I haven't really had any problems with doing work for others and then just having it on my hard drive as well as on a server somewhere. There have only been a couple of instances where I've need to edit or resend the file for whatever reason. In my eyes, that is more than enough protection since backups are done daily at most reputable hosting places, and you should have another copy on your own box somewhere.

 

Target local businesses! Big money to be made there, and you can pretty much charge as much as you'd like, low elasticy.
