Standard Terms for Hiring a Blogger?

We are hiring several bloggers to create blogs for our site. Can anyone provide or point me too 'standard' terms or a contract for these types of services? We don't want to put unnecessary limits on their creative freedom, but also need to make sure we get content that's worthwhile. Curious to see how other companies balance these needs.

    Thanks for your help!

If you do not want to limit their creativity, simply stick to standar regulations such as number of articles you need posted each day or on a per-week basis, an average word count, let's say between "x" and "y" words, and gudelines about the topic in question, as in example avoid using commercial brands, determined words or subjects, etc.

Yes, many DP clients hire me for blog projects on here, and they simply give me a word count and an idea of a topic (s), and that's about it.

Agree with you girls, basically you have to give your bloggers a topic, word count, deadline and a few guidelines (inclusions and/or exclusions) to get the work caught up.

    Thanks, appreciate the fast feedback.

Not sure if I was clear enough, though. We have hired two writers to blog about a pretty big life experience (cosmetic surgery) over a period of several months. Obviously, some posts will naturally be pretty long and others quite short. How do we codify things to make sure that overall, they are quality and substantive?

Also, VERY MUCH appreciate if anyone cares to PM me a copy of or linke to a contract for this sort of work.

    Thanks so much!

I'm assuming you hired people who actually CAN write. If you didn't, well... that's an entirely different can of words.

If you did (we'll work based on that assumption,) you can probably safely assume that their posts will be of at least fair quality. Are there certain topics you prefer they discuss? Tell them! Ultimately however, they are blogging about their own personal life experiences... that's something that really can't be dictated to them.

You can direct the frequency of posts, the length of each post and the topic of the blog (in this case, cosmetic surgery.) Aside from that however, I'm not sure exactly what you want your bloggers to do for you.

Pay them well and pay them often. That way you'll never be disappointed in whom that you hire.

What would you call "well" and "often"?

    Thanks for everyone's advice!

Pay $3 to $5 per blog entry and pay the blogger once weekly.
