    I use:

    /
    /keyword-subfolder/
    /keyword-subfolder/keyword-subfolder/
    /keyword-subfolder/keyword-subfolder/keyword-file.php

etc. I use folder addresses wherever possible, but the money pages usually end up with a file extension.

I use the same file structure as well. It has worked great for many years on many sites!

As for finding an article, I've never come across any, just personal experience trying on multiple methods over the years.

Regardless of what you do, just make sure to use dashes as word seperaters.

You wouldn't need to read an article about it, you've been given great advise in this very thread :)

Does anyone know if underscores work the same as dashes when used as word seperaters ? I have used underscores thinking this would work ?

it would be better if you use dashes instead of underscores upon separating words. i've read an article entitled "File Naming Structure" which endorses the use of dashes rather than underscores.

Your article is helpful. I am looking for mrore detail, or perhaps, more specific advice.

my site is on a rather borad topic (i know, i know....specialize...but, although the site is broad, its very comprehensive and detailed.)

Can someone comment on the practce of organizing folders around keyword broadness?

for example - say the site is about darts.

the most base keyword is "darts" then you might have "darts lessons" or darts tips" or whatever - more specific keywords. As you get more specific, the wordtracker expected clicks per day gets lower and lower.

SO - could you /would you recommend seeting up teh files lie this:

    www.url.com/darts/darts-keyword1/keyword1.asp
    www.url.com/darts/darts-keyword1/keyword2.asp
    www.url.com/darts/darts-keyword1/keyword3.asp
    www.url.com/darts/darts-keyword2/keyword1.asp
    www.url.com/darts/darts-keyword2/keyword2.asp
    www.url.com/darts/darts-keyword2/keyword3.asp

so...the first folder is named after the main keyword, and if you hit:

    www.url.com/darts/

you would get a menu page with all of the links to the sub cat's and sub pages with the more specific keywords.

does this make any sense?????? please slap me if this is rediculous.

    thanks for the tips.

    soo....to confirm....

    darts.com/darts/sub-keyword/sub-specific-keyword/file.ext

is the "darts.com/darts/..." part considxered spammy or redundant?

or is that good - because thge folder structure starts level 1 at the higest/broadest keyword?

Thats kind of a judgment call. Either way i dont think it matters too much. But if you have the domain darts.com you probably dont need a directory named darts.
