Hi, i just want to know if anyone of you knows the standard for file structure of a wel optmized website? how about file structure of a pre-analysis of a website? thanks!
I use: / /keyword-subfolder/ /keyword-subfolder/keyword-subfolder/ /keyword-subfolder/keyword-subfolder/keyword-file.php etc. I use folder addresses wherever possible, but the money pages usually end up with a file extension.
i see... thanks! dude, do you know where i can find an article about that? im looking for for hours and i still have no luck on where to get it... thanks!
I use the same file structure as well. It has worked great for many years on many sites! As for finding an article, I've never come across any, just personal experience trying on multiple methods over the years. Regardless of what you do, just make sure to use dashes as word seperaters.
Since you couldnt find an article about SEO file structre, I went ahead and wrote one in my blog. You can find it here: SEO file structure I hope it helps and i welcome it if anyone has feedback.
The friend's advise I think it's perfect. Anyway, I found something related: textlinkbrokers.com/blogs/comments/330_0_1_0_C/
Then rate me No, now serious, being a SEO blogger is really good! I know some SEO blogs. You people should follow them.
Does anyone know if underscores work the same as dashes when used as word seperaters ? I have used underscores thinking this would work ?
I also have good articles for you jim: mattcutts.com/blog/dashes-vs-underscores In this case we are speaking about Matt Cutts, a Google worker.
it would be better if you use dashes instead of underscores upon separating words. i've read an article entitled "File Naming Structure" which endorses the use of dashes rather than underscores.
Your article is helpful. I am looking for mrore detail, or perhaps, more specific advice. my site is on a rather borad topic (i know, i know....specialize...but, although the site is broad, its very comprehensive and detailed.) Can someone comment on the practce of organizing folders around keyword broadness? for example - say the site is about darts. the most base keyword is "darts" then you might have "darts lessons" or darts tips" or whatever - more specific keywords. As you get more specific, the wordtracker expected clicks per day gets lower and lower. SO - could you /would you recommend seeting up teh files lie this: www.url.com/darts/darts-keyword1/keyword1.asp www.url.com/darts/darts-keyword1/keyword2.asp www.url.com/darts/darts-keyword1/keyword3.asp www.url.com/darts/darts-keyword2/keyword1.asp www.url.com/darts/darts-keyword2/keyword2.asp www.url.com/darts/darts-keyword2/keyword3.asp so...the first folder is named after the main keyword, and if you hit: www.url.com/darts/ you would get a menu page with all of the links to the sub cat's and sub pages with the more specific keywords. does this make any sense?????? please slap me if this is rediculous.
Sounds like you are on the right track. However i wouldnt repeat "darts" in each sub driectory. So, instead of: www.url.com/darts/darts-keyword1/keyword1.asp www.url.com/darts/darts-keyword1/keyword2.asp www.url.com/darts/darts-keyword1/keyword3.asp www.url.com/darts/darts-keyword2/keyword1.asp www.url.com/darts/darts-keyword2/keyword2.asp www.url.com/darts/darts-keyword2/keyword3.asp You would want: www.url.com/darts/keyword1/keyword1.asp www.url.com/darts/keyword1/keyword2.asp www.url.com/darts/keyword1/keyword3.asp www.url.com/darts/keyword2/keyword1.asp www.url.com/darts/keyword2/keyword2.asp www.url.com/darts/keyword2/keyword3.asp Overusing the term "darts" might be seen as spammy. Your URLs should look something like this: www.url.com/darts/lessons/novice.asp www.url.com/darts/lessons/intermediate.asp www.url.com/darts/lessons/advanced.asp
thanks for the tips. soo....to confirm.... darts.com/darts/sub-keyword/sub-specific-keyword/file.ext is the "darts.com/darts/..." part considxered spammy or redundant? or is that good - because thge folder structure starts level 1 at the higest/broadest keyword?
Thats kind of a judgment call. Either way i dont think it matters too much. But if you have the domain darts.com you probably dont need a directory named darts.
