As far as I know SSL certificate does help SEO but not too much, moving to https may give you a small rank boost but it's so small that it doesn't worth to move to SSL only for SEO.
In your own, Do you know why some websites are using SSL certificate? set aside SEO and ranking concerns.
Websites use SSL as it's secure way of transferring information between user & webserver, SSL certificate is just proof of SSL. Do you need I'll teach you something more? 3
A lot of customers/viewers see it as a "badge of trust" in a way, knowing that their information is being encrypted while sent to the website they're visiting. This is especially important for e-commerce websites or places where personal information (like addresses, phone numbers, credit cards) is being sent online. So even if it doesn't cause a huge improvement in the SEO department, it can still be useful for your visitors.
Oh I'm amaze! Bright kid! Yes teacher can you give some websites that are using SSL certificate and why they use this specific method of secure way of transferring data.
Of course https helps a bit over http, but not that much. Untimetely you will have to catch many things.
Believe it or not, but in near future Google will give more preference to the websites having SSL installed v/s websites having no SSL. Chrome, FF have already rolled out showing warnings for the websites having no SSL.
SSL(Secure Sockets Layer) establishing an encrypted link between a web server and a browser. There is no chance to get search engine rank by using SSL.
If you have active eCommerce store or have active login pages than you might consider of using SSL on your site.
First of all I am not kid, second of all you can ask "your friend Google" about list of sites. And why they use, mostly ecommerce & banking sites use SSL to get more trust from users and better protect users' personal information such as credit cards information
It is standard security tech to use securing data communication between users/browsers and site/web server .
Oops sorry, I thought your are, because of your basic method. Third of all kid, Google is not my friend but rather is your best friend. Thank you teacher for this basic information from your best friend Google.
Yes girl you're right, Google is my friend, but this information isn't from Google, it's from my overall knowledge which yes I got from Google long ago
yes google has announce that going HTTPS — adding a SSL 2048-bit key certificate on your site — will give you a minor ranking boost. Google says this gives websites a small ranking benefit, only counting as a “very lightweight signal” within the overall ranking algorithm. In fact, Google said this carries “less weight than other signals such as high-quality content.” Based on their tests, Google says it has an impact on “fewer than 1% of global queries” but said they “may decide to strengthen” the signal because they want to “encourage all website owners to switch from HTTP to HTTPS to keep everyone safe on the web.” Google also said based on their tests for the past few months, the HTTPS signal showed “positive results” in terms of relevancy and ranking in Google’s search results.
