I took some advice I read here last week and it worked.
I bought a ssl certificate for one of my sites, and bang straight to page one for my keyword.
OK it is only 1 keyword. It is a niche, but nonetheless I was page 5 before

I only bought the certificate for a year since it is all my hosting would allow.
    But yes it worked.

Are you sure that's not just a coincidence.
I don't have an SSL on my site, live for 7 months, but sure I'm sandboxed

I seriously, seriously dout an SSL certificate had anything to do with the moment of your website within SERPS, it has nothing to do with SERPs.

Site is 2 months old and just seems easier to get onto a decent ranking.
But, the domain name was 7 years old when i bought it.
Easiest domain name I have ever optomised.
