SSH Server Events

    Hello -

I'm working on setting up some SSH server events. In reviewing archives of the og list I found mention that SSH server events on OS X must be done with keys. I've been working on that but I'm not able to get it working - still getting permission errors although I can get it working from the command line.

    A few questions -

Does anyone know if fmpro on the OS X tries to run the ssh process as root? or should I be approaching it as if it will try to run the process as 'username' you're logged in as? (then how would you set the username in OG?)

Am I going to be able to make Server Events work (easily) with both OS X and WinXP clients?

    thx
    Scott

It tries to run SSH as the user you are logged in as. But SSH is available to anyone by default, so it shouldn't be an issue.

Acutally, it does appear to make a difference..... if you don't have user root logged in or created as an osx user, it can make things annoying... we got it working for a while, then it just started getting errors, and it's a pain. Most of the times you want the ssh command to login as root, not admin or Joe Schmo user in OSX. So we just ended up bying a 1U Intel put windows2k on it and have no problem since for some god foresaken reason, the windows filemaker can pass the username and password in the command. The only issue we have now is windows filemaker crashing every week or so :)
