Squidoo lens type question

I'm starting to make my first lens and it was asking me as the second step what I wanted to do with my lens? The main two options seem to be "get the word out about it" or "sell stuff regarding it to make money", I choose the first and step 5 still ended up asking me how'd I'd want to get paid.

What's the difference between these two and which should I pick? I don't know much about squidoo as of right now except that I am looking to link some ezine articles to some lenses i'll make over at squidoo and I suppose review products there in hopes people will buy through the links i'll put in there...

I always choose "sell stuff regarding it to make money". You can also get additional links to your lens by additing it to different groups.

When you're creating a new Squidoo lens, the first three options at step two simply give you a starting selection of modules that fit with the option you've chosen. You can always add, delete and reorder modules if you want to.

This step is not related to whether you have opted for cash, charity or a combination of the two for your Squidoo earnings.

I always chose option four, which is 'I just want to do my own thing'. This means you are not given any starting modules and simply pick your own. I find this quicker and easier. With the other options you have to delete the modules you don't want.

I always chose "get the word out about it" - and I am doing pretty well with it :)

I agree. "Do your own thing" is the best option, because that means you don't waste time deleting a bunch of modules you're not going to use. I stopped using all the other options a long time ago, and this step saves me time.

The different choices just give you a template with a bunch of various modules already there. That will have to be moved around or deleted anyway.

I "Do my own thing" just like Victoria Neely does :D
