Hi, I hope this forum is the place to ask this question. One of my squidoo lenses has totally disappeared from Google. a weeks ago it had 400 hits a week, and now it's nowhere to be found. It's as if Google has totally dropped it. The only way I can find it is to search for the entire URL. And I added links to it this week from all sorts of social media sites, so I just don't understand why this happened. It's an old lens, so the search engine knows it very well. Any idea why this is happening? Thanks in advance for any suggestion.
Did you do any type of link building to it? Did you pay for any of those services? A lot of people provide "link building services" but are automated systems that are only good for hurting your SERP's rather than helping. Granted, i'm sure there are some legitimate ones too.
All the links to the lens were ones which I built myself. I hadn't used any automatic services: 1. articles 2. social marketing 3. blogs 4. Other squidoo lenses 5. forums These are all my linking sources. And just last week I was showing great on google. Now it's as if I've been penalized. Doesn't it mean I've been penalized if I can only see myself on google by searching for the URL? Can this be just a glitch, or does it have something to do with the Google slap of last week? Thanks for any suggestions
the squidoo forum should be the better place to ask. other lensmaster could probably experience the same thing. usually this kind of problem cannot be solved correctly if the site is not disclosed.
Google seems to have a love/hate relationship with Squidoo. Sometimes lenses rank really well and other times Google gives them a slap and they are out of there. Just don't rely on Squidoo to be your only source of income.
