Squidoo is Officially Dead IMHO

    Hey DPers,

Has anyone else found Squidoo to be dead? I was using it successfully a few monthes ago, but now NONE of my new lenses are getting indexed in days, or weeks even.

I think Google has turned the SEO knob down on Squidoo from 10 to 2. I'm just glad I didn't jump on the squidoo band-wagon and put all my eggs in that basket.

Has anyone else had the same experience, and do you think we should all throw in a couple of bucks and send Seth Godin a bouquet of condolences flowers?

    -Brad

yeah, it's gotten worse than ever. I have a handful that get very moderate traffic, but basically no more sales or any other activity. I hope it gets better since I used to spend most of my life making pages on that site.

Most of my lenses are around 8 months old, and 98% of them are PR0, the rest are PR1...even the ones that have backlinks.

I'm glad I came across this... I was just going to start using squidoo more as an extra backlink method... hmm.. maybe not?

Meh I didn't bother as I seen many spammy types using it in other forums and trying to promote theirs - way to much.

My tip is find the next one LoL - there's plenty more out there, that are even better.

Is the squid dead? It definitely was not the old squid it was in its haydays. Many of the squidoo lens are taken off the search engine rankings but is it dead already?

Nope! For competitive keywords, it is tough to get any high or Page 1 ranking but for less competitive keywords, it still works! :D

Well, thanks for all your input everyone.

I guess that if google isn't indexing Squidoo's new pages, it's hard to rank for anything...

It's been about 3 weeks now and no indexing for my lenses... they used to be indexed overnight.

What are these lenses that you're having difficulty getting indexed? Post the URL's here. I may have a suggestion or two.

Never quite understand it, and never had the time to create a lense.

Like alot of these types of marketing techniques, as soon as spammers get hold of it and find a way to use it to their advantage, it becomes a useless marketing technique.

Think they've Up'd their spam filtering.. Maybe google should give 'em another shot. I've got a few lenses there that haven't been indexed in a while.

Squidoo is full of spam and there is no one up there looking at it.

Its history and its time to move on. Glad i didnt bother to waste my time on there.

I've actually noticed the opposite over the last couple of weeks, my new lenses have been being indexed in 1-5 days very consistently, and my traffic numbers are jumping up pretty quickly.

Squidoo has put some pretty nice spam controls processes into place in the last 30 days, It's pretty rare to run across giant swaths of spam anymore.

    Just my $0.02
