Are Squidoo pages ever followed? I just made one for a website I'm a part of. Similar lenses within the niche seem to not be getting indexed, but I can't see any nofollow/noindex in the source. Anyone have experience with this?
Squidoo links are nofollow if that's what you were asking. But on the other hand they are good for generating traffic to your site if utilized correctly.
A squidoo page is usefull. Just make it build a few links and move on with linkbuilding for your main site.
If we use a detail article so it will be much effective for get backlinks, squidoo is a high pr site and have a huge no of viewership. Besides we also need to use other web 2.0 sites for better results.
Squidoo is not like EzineArticles or Buzzle in that you won't get much immediate traffic if you just create a lens or two. You need to be active on the site and network with other users, get some people to like and link to your lenses. Unlike article directories, Squidoo has a very rich community. Is it worth putting the time into it? I don't know. I haven't figured that out yet. So far, it has taken up a lot more of my time relative to the traffic I've gotten out of it. But I've kept participating mainly because it's rather fun. Squidoo allows much more liberal outlinking and cross-linking of lenses than any other article directories with a similar amount of traffic and pagerank allow for their articles, so it may be worth getting over the initial hurdle. It's a very different site from article directories: you really need to participate wholeheartedly in the site and the community in order to benefit the most from it.
squidoo links are NOT nofollow. not sure where did you get the idea or came up with the idea on your own. @OP, squidoo pages do get indexed and it is one of the most popular and powerful web 2.0 platform which passes very good link juice to the money site. every single lens i build gets indexed
I think actualy tha squidoo pages involves to much time to get full benefits from it. I must say that i have 1 lens and i didn`t had the necesary time to develope it, so there is no news about my links.
I have a related question about squidoo. Firstly, I just checked my link on squidoo, and it is a "do follow". My question is, since squidoo is a high page rank site - page rank 8 - would it be usefull to post multiple articles there? Would that be helpful, or do you just get one link's worth of link juice, regardless of how many links you have on a given site?
I believe that most squidoo lenses are dofollow (providing you meet certain criteria such as the number of modules int he lens); from memory, however, I think that commenting on others' lenses can result in nf links.
Squidoo lens is dofollow but it is not a better source for backlinks. Rather than consider it as a source of backlinks, consider it as a way to attract traffic to your website.
Spot on. I had used Squidoo and Hubpages without really delving into them before, and got little by way of results. But now I have delved into the community on both (although in my case especially on hubpages) I have found that I am getting a lot more traffic and a lot more clicks. Squidoo and Hubpages are both, imo, very powerful web 2.0 tools to use for both backlinking and traffic driving (SEO such as keywording and backlinking needed here). But both require some work, which will put a lot of people off.
I think there are a few important additional distinctions between Squidoo and HubPages. One of them is that the community on Squidoo is very positive and supportive, whereas there can be a lot of negativity on HubPages. I think that this is not a factor of random chance, but rather, a perhaps unintentional result of the design of these two sites. Squidoo has very careful social engineering on behalf of the site designers to make the site a fun place and to encourage positive interaction between users. HubPages is more of a free-for-all, and if anything, cultivates somewhat more of an atmosphere of competition between users. On Squidoo, the only competition is in the lens ranking. There are several reasons I strongly prefer Squidoo. Besides the supportiveness of the community (users there are not only more willing to work together with you, but I've found, frequently offer useful constructive criticism of not only your lenses but also your websites or blogs that you link to in your lenses), I find that Squidoo is much more transparent than HubPages. Also, Squidoo is considerably more generous about allowing links. Perhaps associated with this, I found that Squidoo has been better about sending traffics. I also find that it is less time-consuming to create lenses that rank well than hubs that rank well.
