Hey, I am an article marketer and I funnel most of my traffic to squidoo from my ezinearticles to attempt to make a sale. The reason I use Squidoo is because the lens iteslf will rank for some terms eventually, and when I just link to a subdomain on one of my domains for a landing page, that subdomain rarely gets listed on G. Anyways, my question is: When you think LONGTERM, is it better to build up my own domain with links from ezinearticles and goarticles and general SEO and link to my own subdomain's for affiliate landing pages. This way I can have all the benefits of owning the domain and possibly selling it or leveraging it another way down the road. OR Continue sending my leads to a Squidoo Lens that may rank but I'm sending my PR love and Article links to squidoo instead of to myself. Also- I'm not sure how the Conversion Rate compares on Squidoo versus my own subdomain. Any ideas? -Brad
i think if you want to rank for terms in the short term, go for squidoo. in the long term however, it's more valuable to build PR for your own domain. You have more control over it's content. For example on a squidoo page there is a whole heap of stuff on the page which may distract users from converting. also, with PR on your own domain, you can sell links. my $0.02
EzineArticles is not allowing links to usfreeads page, so they may not allow links to squidoo in the future. So I would agree with snoopsta and the control you have on your domain. I link my articles and squidoo page to my domain. I have seen that the squidoo page will rank better for a keyword and outrank the articles that were on the first page of Google.
