It's better to buy a cheap dot info domain and make your own website rather than have a lens or a hub and find it wiped out one day. Squidoo and Hubpages may change their rules suddenly on day and include the niche that you are writing in, in their restricted category. If you have your own site not only do you have a good control over it but you can even flip it one day with a good price.
How many people with a domain had control over it when Google's Panda Update wiped them off the face of the map?
There is nothing wrong with using squidoo's powerful page rankings to strengthen your page ranking through back linking. The thing is you don't want to miss any money. If you are putting up quality lenses, people will come. I have had lenses get visitors the same day that I published them. Don't ask me how, but it is possible. I also operate in unique niches, so I don't have a great deal of competition. I agree that you should start a blog to promote your amazon products and use your squidoo lens to promote the blog and back link to the lenses to strengthen the blogs PR. It is a process, not a one hitter quitter.
Squidoo has been overdone in some respects and the average lens does not rank as highly anymore. You might have more success by joining the Amazon afilliate program directly.
I'm sure squidoo is good too for amazon. It will convert well if your squidoo page has good ranking. I heard many people success from squidoo with selling physical product.
I'm new to this Squidoo thing, but with the proper application of linking and backlinking to my blog, I think it could produce results. Sure, it will take time. Nothing worthwile is an overnight thing. Patience is a major virtue in this game.
If you make a great Squidoo page it will work. If you throw up badly written content that doesn't really help anyone.. you won't get very far.
Squidoo is good for promoting your site but from my opinion promote your own site rather than posting in squidoo. do forum posting, use social media, manual back linking & many more option are available to promote your site to increase traffic & money
Squidoo is actually quite good in promoting amazon products because its easier to rank a squidoo lens than your brand new website.
I used to make Squidoo's damn good ones, High quality, backlinked etc did everything you should, and guess what, after a while they then put it in the red and said incomplete. Now that means no one can see them! They will not come up in the search engines. I had over 63 lenses. Never again! You are putting all your eggs in 1 farmers basket - a basket that you have no control over, they trip and fall your eggs get broken, they change their rules, your eggs get broken. Squidoo's in my opinion are a lot of work, spend the time on your own website, no matter how humble and you will come out on top. Questions: How many lenses do you see when you search for something??? Every lens tends to make Squidoo richer, you are building their empire, my advice build your own
