Sorry if this is not the right place to ask this.

I noticed that SitePoint (SP) use squid on their site.

Is this another source of accelerator like the such of eaccelerator, xcache, lighttpd??

    How good is this product?

    ANy of you use it?

If it can improve a server, I would loved to use it,

its a caching proxy and it is pretty good for reducing bandwidth for commonly visited sites. doesn't really work appropriately with dynamic sites.

Squid is tremendously popular and well known in the Linux/Unix world. It is often used to speed up web surfing. A lot of the shady open proxies (not web proxies) are running Squid. A lot of open proxies however do not know they are open and vulnerable.
