Squeeze page landing page above the fold or not above the fold.

I heard that above the fold on a landing page is good to capture emails. But I have a review page rating some clickbank products in the same catagory. My question is is it a good Idea to put and opt in form at the to of the review sites ofr is it better to leave it out? The reason why I'm asking is because I am paying for the traffic through ppc. Any advise would be helpful.
    Thanks
    Jason

Put yourself in the position of your visitor
Would you opt-in, where and why?

Usually you put your strongest call to action (most important thing you want them to do) above the fold. This can include more than one call to action... I think if you are paying for the traffic with PPC - you should be DOING YOUR BEST to retain that traffics contact info to market to them later, definitely put the optin above the fold proudly - check my second sig link to see creative use of an optin above the fold. Here is another site we are building right now too which utilizes many calls to action above the fold but the opt-in is equally as important as the order/more info options to retain prospects for future product cycles/programs etc >> http://www.ncmedia.ca/gonatural

Hope this helps *Monetizing on the fly is one thing - incremental stealth is another, i would rather miss the odd instinctual on the spot sale for the greater good of more sales overall/overlapping with your autoresponder/optin newsletter etc. (takes most customers up to or more than 7 views to respond to your offer).

    I would suggest to test!

I DID put an opt in form on my LPs just a few days ago - My sales are pretty much the same, but also I am getting leads :)

It is important to note that if your sales stay the same for a while that's ok. I'm assuming you have aweber? If not you should get it - enabling 7-10 autoresponses (i.e. 7 day course)... You'll notice that in a month or so, if you do a good job with your retention campaign you'll still have the same amount of regular sales, plus up to 60% or more of the sales you would have otherwise missed. If it's just a newsletter or one time autoresponder or email blast that's one thing - but overlapping 7-10 delayed non-intrusive views at your offer will yield plenty of sales from both direct traffic and your retention strategies. Not to mention in a few months/years your lists will be huge and full of (60% or more) proven profitable buyers at your fingertips...

Cheers, yes test - but optins are very important especially when you switch to a vendor/publisher. I should have noted that - as an affiliates job is hard enough just getting your traffic to the merchants site, stopping them for info does have an impact on defecting your sale. If your vendor already uses an autoresponder, it might be best to just send traffic there and let the merchant do the retention campaign, but then you have NO list... I'd still try to retain my adspend/efforts with aggregating prospects no matter what platform/strategy used.

Yes, I use aweber, I love their service.
I just checked it out, and the publisher does not use an autoresponder.

The list is quiet small but I just had a second dale to the list :) It really does work!
