I am aware that many hosting companies provide lots of mysql databases free within their packages. However I noticed there are still a few of the larger companies charging extra for mysql, even some companies (such as one.com) only offering 1 mysql.

I am wondering do you think there is a need for a professional dedicated mysql database hosting service? I suppose the advantage of this would be you don't need to swicth your mysql if you switch hosting providers; one of the things which I find annoying.

I have unlimited databases provided by both Servage and Dreamhost, even though I have a dedicated mysql service as the only option to gurantee my databases run without connectivity errors and mostly to make easier backup and remote connection, since they are called from different domains hosted on different services.

    Also, I forgot to ask.
What kind of bandwidth do MySQL server use?
I would imagine that a 10Mbps line would suffice.
What about the monthly data transfer though?

Yes, but there might be some connectivity issues when hosting databases with other service providers. It is always better to have database in the same location for better performance.

I haven't seen any hosting providers dedicated solely to MySQL. I could see there being a need for it if there wasnt a delay between the host to host to user transactions. That doesnt mean that it cant be done so dont let me discourage you
