ok i have my website, www.gadget-net.com, and there are (i presume) SQL database errors... (i use oscommerce (the forums are absolutely USELESS!)) when i go to mp3 players i get: http://gadget-net.com/MP3-MP4-Players/MP3-Players/1GB.html same in mp4 players: http://gadget-net.com/MP3-MP4-Players/MP4-Players/1GB.html although when i go into my admin the products are in the right places... i cannot view ANY of the mp4 players?!?! could anyone tell me what is wrong or help me fix this problem thanks
I would lay odds the 1gb.html 2gb.html files are the same. Are you using mod rewrite? Also the link for Catalog in the bread crumb is wrong, currently it points to http://gadget-net.com.html/
i see you know a little about oscommerce? well i installed SEO urls on to cart a while ago, so im not sure, does this also mean that mp3 and mp4 are the same files too? also all the urls pointing to my home page were wrong, i've just changed the rest manually, i dont think thats the rigth way of doing it, but i know no better :/ how would i fix this problem? thanks also so far!
I see two possibilities. First is that the mp4 players has the wrong category id, but it doesn't hold cause the main page for mp4 players comes up correctly. Which leaves the seo mod as the culprit. Which specific SEO mod are you using? Ultimate SEO URLs says it has the option to use the traditional cPath method or HTML pages. It would help debug the issue if you switched it back to cPath so we could see what it is using when making the query. Should be able to fix the bread crumb in includes/configure.php , define('DIR_WS_HTTP_CATALOG', '/shop/'); define('DIR_FS_CATALOG', '/home/USERNAME/public_html/YOURDOMAIN.com/shop/'); That would be the first place to check. Just search for the .com.html and change it to the proper path, either / or /home/USERNAME/public_html/ or /home/USERNAME/public_html/YOURDOMAIN.COM if gadget-net.com is an Add On Domain.
i think i have used ultimate SEO URLs. how would i find this option? from there what could i do to right this? and also sthanks for the info on how to change the breadcrumbs
Well you have to go into the admin control panel. To the add ons section and there should be an option for which path to use. I can't access my admin panel for my demo OSC (crashes FF for some unknown reason). else I could tell you the exact name. Basically we need to see what cPath it is using to tell if its using the same one for both.
i don't quite know how to find this. i am on the config panel in my admin. i don't know what to look for though
You will find a new setting group in your admin control panel under Configuration => SEO URLs Will see a bunch of options etc. One that can help you is: Add cPath to product URLs
hmm i don't see SEO URLS under my config panel, i do have the basic SEO URLS that comes with the software.this is set to "true"
You can try setting that to false and see if it displays the real path names. An easier option might be to rename the sub-category for mp4 players to mp4-1gb and mp4-2gb. But if it doesn't work, odds are you are going to have to dig deep into either mod_rewrite or OSC's db setup to find a solution. Try renaming the 1gb sub-category first. Then test to see if it displays properly.
that solved it! not very useful having to name everything different, i have the same problem with accessories. but thanks very very much for your help!
