Spybot Search & Destroy 4.1 was finally released Released June 1, 2005. Do get your copy today at http://ejrs.com/spybot or http://ejrs.biz/spybot
hahaha, I don't think so... I will wait until the official SpyBot S&D website puts out the properly numbered update, seen here: http://www.safer-networking.org/en/index.html PS: The version is 1.4...
That's one creepy avatar! I really like Spybot, it always finds a few bits of crap that Adaware misses when I do a cleanup.
Why would people want to download software like this from you when they can get the latest (guaranteed) versions from the developers' sites? Are you an approved mirror site for these programs? Or are you just trying to capitalize on someone else's hard work to drive traffic to your site?
Wow, you are right, I didn't even notice that he was pointing to urls that weren't the official Spybot's page Which, by the way, is http://www.safer-networking.org/en/index.html
Look at his Irfanview page: [nourl]http://www.ejrs.com/irfanview/[/nourl] It's a direct ripoff of the Irfanview site, slanted to make it look like it's his product. Pretty damn sleazy, IMO.
I made a mistake... Pardon my fingers for the error. By the way, I am an authorized Spybot Search and Destroy download partner since 2002. Team spybot even has my logo on rotation with other partners on their web. I am also Asia Partner for Irfanview. Please look at http://irfanview.com On the pull down menu you will see ASIA. Click that and you will be directed to my site. You will also see my link at http://irfanview.com/main_download_engl.htm http://irfanview.com/download_sites.htm
Before I put a single thing on my site that wasn't created by me, I always and have always written to each and every author/developer for permission to use their product and only upon receipt of approval do I then update the sites. Many European / international software developers have made me an authorized partner. I have 15 partnerships to date. Once I have approval then I update my site and show the owner the link. If they have changes to be made then the site is further updated. Only then do I release it for public use.
Everything on your Spybot and Irfanview pages is designed to suggest that they are your programs. Hell, you even have a forum set up on your site called the "Spybot Support Forum" or some such... It's at best misleading. At worst, it's fraudulent. Here's a suggestion: Ask the people who actually created those programs to have a look at those pages and then ask them if THEY are happy with what you've done.
If what I have done is wrong then I will let the companies who use my services to host the downloads contact me themselves. We have been working together since 2002 with the last communication as fresh as today's email. If they were unhappy I'm sure they'd have told me by now. As per the forum, if and when a question happens I ask them and they email me the solution which I then post on the forum. If I am in the wrong then the companies would not be sending me emails saying, "The new version is ready, please upload it to your servers", etc.
If you were truly being open about thse being merely "download mirror pages", the text on those pages would clearly indicate that fact. Let's not try to rationalize what you've done there. As I said, "It's at best misleading. At worst, it's fraudulent.".
Look carefully at the SERPS for "spybot"... http://www.google.ca/search?hl=en&q=spybot&meta= How many homes can you have?
Will, my issue is not with being a download mirror site for software. My issue is with doing so and not making it clear that it IS just a download mirror.
