This is an email I wrote to Google asking them about using AdSense on adsensebits.com(I no longer own the site). Note that it uses YPN.

So as far as using it to promote picasa, the short answer is 'no'. If you're willing to rethink that $400 mimimum now, I might be interested.

 

Damn, I tought it wasn't against tos. Anyway I emailed google so I will get response from tomorrow I gues, then I'll post it here. By the way it said 100$ minimum not 400 but I'm kinda sick of it now so if somebody has an offer just post it here or pm me.

No. If you have a site with the word picasa (or any other google trademark) in the url, you can't put picasa (or any other google brand service) on it.

You were right. I received an E-mail response today from google saying that I wasn't allowed to put Picasa referrals on it.

If we are'nt allowed to put Picasa Referral link or AdSense, whats the use of running the site with the domain, if that does'nt fetch us any money ?

And great to see you have come down to 25 from 100 ! May be someone would be interested, again most prefer placing adsense or referral links,but when thats not allowed, its really tough !

Domain can be valuable:

1. You have adsense running on "site b"
2. You setup a info page for Picasa on "site b" with adsense links
3. You send click-thrus from SpeadPicasa.com to "site b" target page

Just can't setup adsense on SpreadPicasa.com directly, the right design, will draw clicks to "site b" to see a "Download Page" link, or your adsense links to google.

What if i 301/302 redirect the traffic to site B? can i then put a referral there?

 

I tought only picasa ads were not allowed? So adsense would be ok?
But ypn should always work fine.

No Google Brand Feature can be used on the site at all. But you definitely could put YPN on it. You could most definitely put some information on the site with a nice download feature box/button that took you to another site that had the referral link on it. There wouldn't be any problem there.

Google just doesn't want people thinking that they're using a Google ran site when they're not. You can request special permission though. I would get a nice and informative non-spammy design together with a few tutorials and a FAQ and email Google asking them for permission to put a Picasa referrals on it. They do grant special permission on a site-by-site basis, and getting that permission would make the site much more valuable.

But in short, yes YPN is fine.

While I know Google frowns upon 301/302 redirects, I can't comment on whether or not they would allow that or not.
