I have a sports website blog where I post sports articles and such. I usually have an image of the player or team I am writing about. Is this illegal? They are all gotten through simply google images, and I see other sites using them.

Also, I have no ads on my site and no donations, just my blog for friends and others :)

I suppose it may be if they are copyrighted but I wouldn't worry about it, all the sports websites do it.

This is all bad advice.. you may not use any copyrighted images, doing so is illegal.
Google images will also show copyrighted photos so you can't use it because you found it through google.

Only if images are released in the public domain or made available for other sites then you can use them.
Ie the sports team themselves may have images on their site for press that anyone may use.

Most of the photos that you are using might be copyrighted.

I'm not sure whether you'll be able to have fair use as your defence ( I suppose that is the rationale behind saying no ads and no donations)

Try out Wikimedia Commons or places like Flickr ( search within creative commons licensed content in there)
