So.... this is the second time this has come up.
But this time it's a new owner(me) and a whole new premium design!

    Appraise appraise appraise!!!!

Obviously it's based on the new game Spore.
Which, is predicted to be the largest game available(passing The Sims).

    So, any appraisals?

If it's a game that requires strategy and a lot of talk then it can be quite valuable. I would say $1,000+.

Potential trademark issues, but who knows whether EA will pursue you over it. Check their past record on trademarks and you can get a better idea.

Potential TM issues if you go the game route. Memorable, brandable and is made up of related keywords. Other than related game use, a mycological angle also exists. You could probably reasonably expect anywhere in the low three to low four digit range for it, depending on whether you want to flip or invest the time, energy and money building content.

Spore is trademarked. If it wasn't you could have gotten a good price for it, maybe still can to the right buyer.

If EA flips out, just change it into a site for psilocybin mushrooms (the spores are bought and sold online)

I'm not really worried about EA filing suit.
It's a forum, they have ps3forums and whatnot as well that are never taken down.

I wasn't kidding. There's ok search volume on a lot of related terms, high conversion rates because you can't by the product in stores, and you get a higher clickthrough on the search that DO take place because PPC advertising isn't allowed on those keywords.

Just because something is a dictionary word doesn't mean it can't be trademarked. Take for example the laundry detergent Tide, dictionary word yet it is still trademarked. Again I would stay far far away from this name.

There is a difference between "risk" and a clear violation of trademark laws. Just don't come whining to us after you are getting sued for thousands of dollars and need money for lawyers fees.

    COD4source.com
COD4. Acronym for Call of Duty 4.
    Technically a trademark violation.
    Hypocritical.

Call of Duty 4 may be trademarked, but the abbreviation COD4 is not trademarked. I did quite a bit of research before I registered the domain to see if if it was trademarked, and also to see if other sites using the COD abbreviation had any legal trouble.

It is possible that the trademark owners won't sue you over the domain or try and take it from you. I wouldn't count on it though. If you want to be sure the best idea is just to email them and ask.

I am not try to rain on the OP's parade, but he should be aware of the consequences of his actions.

Weird... my roommate is trying to get me and my girlfriend to play this game. When I saw the domain thread, it didn't make me think of a game...

I agree with Melo about keeping in mind potential TM problems and doing a little research before you spend too much time developing the site.
