Didn't he say something about GPL must be passed on if we use any of the functions?

I am trying to find that post, seems like it disappeared or I forgot where it went.

What "functions" if he is talking about php includes.. and such... those aren't copyrighted as far as I know lol.

We can create a template, and put any license we want it under. It's up to the user what "platform" they use it on!

    Hmm,
In terms of design, the first one is better
    but...(some points to improve on)
it doesn't have a "test run"
and users must log in to comment
I don't know if the thumbnailing/screenshot is automated, because I didn't sign up, but it better be :)
There either is very little themes or the "page" links aren't there.
Its probably, still in development because, the "blog", "contact" and "about" are empty.

    Now, about the design.
I noticed my eyes get drawn to the side bar instead of the themes, maybe the colours are too heavy(contrast too much with bg)

    Thats all for now..

The first looks great and easy.. not cluttered. I'll upload themes there! However, it would have been better if themes would have a preview. Thanks!

Do you mind showing me a link to what matt's has said? I am a bit confused after reading your post.

I have read http://themes.wordpress.net/blog/4421/version-30/#more-4421 and these are Matt's comments. He said
"sponsored themes are going to be removed, as per the community’s decision on them. However we will prioritize removing malicious themes over legit ones with a single sponsor link."

"suspended authors will be able to resubmit their theme for re-inclusion once they’ve corrected all issues, including removing all sponsor links."

    Did I miss something?

NO sponsored themes are allowed. It doesn't matter if you have 1, 3, 5 sponsored links, they all get removed.

And I think it's unfair that some people are selling one sponsor link or designed by + coded by and say they will upload the theme to wordpress.net I'm not afraid to say that I'll report such themes personally. If the rule is for everyone it must be for everyone!

If the link leads to a personal/designs site/blog then you know he/she is the author. If the link leads to a directory/business/hosting site then you know it's sponsored.

Sad to know that its like you're saying that you will be reporting every theme that has sponsorship sold on the link sales thread here on dp. Even if on the theme, it could be just "Designed by ___(sponsor)___". Congratulations on your new found fame.

its pretty easy to make a dummy designer site and link that as sponsored link, so how would you distinguish between the original creator and purchased sponsored link ?
whoever is into this business will find their own way to get things going.

If no sponsored themes are allowed, no should be uploaded, you may or may not agree with me, I don't care. There are plenty of other places you can upload your themes to and I think it's very unfair that your sponsors pay you and then see the theme successfully removed from wordpress.net, be it me who report it or not.

Now I'll tell you what I think is sad. It's sad that some people only care about money.

Haha, how much money did YOU get from sponsored themes, eh? I'm not a little girl and money is important for me indeed, but i DO NOT LIE to my sponsors just to get more money! Why don't you go out and do something useful instead of sitting here and typing crap?

    -----

Oh you edited your nasty comment? Did you feel afraid or what?
