Have you been a sponsor for a category at Blogcatalog, if so, what was your experience?

I have been looking at it for a few days, and it seems to be rather interesting.

You can be a shared sponsor for one category and it costs $60 a month, if you want be an exclusive sponsor it will cost apx. $240.

A lot of people are using Blogcatalog, it might be worth the cost?

What does a sponsor get out of it? Is it like advertising?

I was a sponsor for the SEO Category. Guess what? No traffic. In fact, no more traffic than what blog catalog was usually giving me.

I find broadcasts a much more better approach to drive traffic from BlogCatalog.

    That's really interesting.

I haven't been that successful with broadcasts. Do you have a technique you can share?

All I did was write a broadcast every time I had a new post at my blog, and tried to get people to come on over and read it.

That's what I also do. Catchy titles are key AND a decent number of friends. A broadcast will actually broadcast to everyone having you in their friend list so if you have 5 friends that won't make it an effective strategy. At the moment I am broadcasting to about 800 persons. It's not giving me huge traffic, but it adds up.
