Splitting a Website over Multiple Domains

    Hi,

I have a company website which is a mixture of unique content and also press releases. We are currently in the process of redesigning our site and I was wondering the best way to deal with our domains?
Currently we have two domains one which is used for international content and one used for Canadian content.

We also have 2 additional domains Oil-sands.org and Oil-companies.org - these domains directly match frequently searched for industry topics.

Currently on our main sites we have a lot of content which would go very well on these other domains for example pages and articles called things like Oil Sands in Canada and Oil Companies in Canada. There is a lot of news content which falls into these categories as well.

Going forward what would be the best way to deal with these domains in SEO terms:

    A) Most content goes on main domain, /canada /oilsands /oilcompanies items instead appear on the relevant domain but still part of the same site?
    B) Split the content off completely onto different sites
    C) Just keep eveything on the one domain?

Help would be appreciated, as I'm not too sure of the feasibility and whether it is actually worthwhile?

Will it result in significantly more hits or will I end up splitting my page rank between all the sites instead of just one domain?
Certainly for the user it could be a little bit confusing!

    Thanks
    Dan
