I spend a lot of time sifting thru topic posts in the Link Sales forum, but it's difficult to sort out many of the topics, and I find that I waste a lot of time looking at posts that are not relevant. If there was a Link Sales > Buyers forum and a Link Sales > Sellers forum, it would save people hours of time that they waste looking for the appropriate posts. A link buyer could easily search and scan through posts in a Sellers forum without having to wade through listings not relevant to that buyer's interests. And a link seller who could look in a Buyers forum wouldn't have to read page after page of competitors topic posts, many of which are hard enough to understand. The Link Sales forum is a very active forum, but it could certainly benefit from a division into two forums.
Been discussed before and the answer is correct : Any link buyer would write as : "Need ..... Links" or "WTB : ... related links" And the seller just post a thread about the link subject. So i dont think Shawn would agree with the suggestion. And there are already many sections there, dont need any more.
I believe it's been discussed before, and doing that would really mean all the whole Buy/Sell/Trade sections would need to be split into buyers and sellers for each category...
Thats really not a bad idea actually. I like the split buyers/sellers split. I think there would also be some value to having a "directory link sales" section - Its very difficult to go through so many posts when you're looking for a site exchange.
What Shawn's trying to explain is if u want to split then you would be going it this way : Sites : Selling/Buying Domains : Selling/Buying Templates : Selling/Buying Articles(content) : Selling/Buying Links : Selling/Buying Link Exchange. Services : Need services/Service providers This would become a large section which is already large. Why not have some rule like : If u want to buy links or anything, have WTB in front. And if u are selling, then use a word Sale in front. This isn't bad either.
Though the idea is good to have WTB and Sale in front of posts. But it doesn't serves the real purpose. Like you cant sort WTB threads and its very difficult to find such threads manually. My suggest, leave the existing classification as is and restrict it for sale purpose only. And just create following sections: Want to Buy Domains: [___Want to buy Sites Want to Buy Links Want to Buy (others)
I don't think the split is going to happen. If people write quality post titles then there wouldn't be a problem.
I agree this isn't a bad idea... I have seen a huge trend the past few months with tons more "WTB" threads. Some days the link sales section can have 3-4 pages of activity.
I usually disagree with any suggestion but I also have been frustrated at times trying to figure out if people are actually selling or buying. I understand it making the section bigger but it would definately be useful. The suggestion that people should just put WTB, etc in their title is a good one however most people don't do it. In fact, most people don't even put what they are selling or looking to buy in the title.
I'm sure there's an opportunity for a coder to make a script which lets the new poster in the BST section select from a menu whether they are a buyer or seller and subsequently will add a WTB or Selling in front of the title of their posts. Forcing the user to select this item would save the users time as well as selecting from a menu is quicker than typing WTB. Not sure about the server load implications though.
That would be no server load client side javascript - an onclick type event that prepends the title with WTB or Selling when the dropdown or radio box is selected.
A drop down is a good idea. This sounds like something that could be done. Making WTB or WTS one size bigger or changing color would make it easy to differentiate.
