Split test - How will google index the page?

I want to have 2 landing pages to see which has higher converstion rates.

But the content will be like 95% the same.

Do I have a chance to get penalized having 2 same pages in the same directory even they would load 50/50 percent of the time?

Also when you run split text I assume those 2 pages need to get indexed - how do you achieve this?

I mean in PPC when you change your ad it changes instantly. But if you want to run split test it takes time for google to index that change.

So what is the solution to all this?

Yes if you do the test online. But if you change the contents then the chance of getting penalized will be lower.
