What do you want to do using SPF? v=spf1 a mx ~all is for SoftFail and will accept emails with marking.

with the masses of spam and cyber crime all using gmail accounts, my guess would be that there is no way to get a REALLY GOOD eMail reputation no matter the SPF record you attempt to create.

SPF records are most efficient using your own domain with YOU only using that domain-email services for clean business purpose only. ONE site = ONE user ONE SPF record as strict as possible.

    on the other side
a site OWNER NOT using HIS domain as eMail - that always sounds like HE ( the site owner ) does NOT trust his own professional quality services.

just setting up SPF wouldnt be enough for the mail to pass through most email providers.

    Setup Reverse IP
    setup Domain Keys
    SPF record

    these 3 are very important!

you can only make SPF in DNS zone file with root access.
