Was trying to come up with new ideas for a website the other night. It's not done but almost is. What do you think? http://spellcheckplease.com/ Could be a dumb idea but we'll see.
clean design and very user friendly! I don't think the idea is dumb it's a good site to quickly check words (usually I google words up to see if they're correct). This is a less cluttered way since there aren't any SERPS
I really like it.. It is clean, fast responding, and (atleast at the moment) No ad returns like dictionary.com or thesaurus.com has. Its got a bookmark from me
I wasn't able to click on the word and get a definition. Other than that, the only thing I can see that might be an improvement would be to use larger font. I'm not old and don't need bifocals, but I had to move closer to the screen to read the text. Really cool idea!
I will take that in to account, and are you sure you couldnt click the word? Ill take a look at it when I get home. It seems to be working for me.
I agree with coolsitez, adding a dictionary feature will attract more visitors. Not only that, this will make it more user friendly and it will make it useful for users browsing it.
I would actually link the definitions to answers or a smiliar service - not sure I like googles definition (afterall google themselves uses answers.com)
I would add an option to spellcheck a whole text, rather than just a word. Then not so custom ways of sending a text - I would love to upload texts via email, an SMS. I don't think that the visitors counters gives you an advantage. I'd skip its use. The motto is rather not true - spellchecking was never so easy. Actually, it's much easier to have a Google Toolbar installed, a Microsoft Word/Open Office Writer, or a check-spelling in the email client/IM client. SpellCheck in the logo is written with no space between the words. There is a space on the Spell Check button. What's the correct version?
@ shOOK - I can click on the words, but only when I've spelled the word incorrectly. Then I have a list to choose from. If I spell it right, it just says its correct. I really like it, gets a bookmark from me
