I have a Pentium III pc which run quite slow in comparison to today latest offering. As I don't want to spend lots of money speeding up my pc which has Windows XP OS, I have set my virtual memory pointing to the USB flash memory that I used. As USB flash memory is made from solid state device, I find my pc run faster now as Windows normally set virtual memory pages in the much slower mechanical data seeking hard disks!
Called readyboost. It can help, but you should look at getting some more RAM. this is quite cheap and readily available.
your PC must be about 9 years old by now. i think its time u buy a new one. no point of investing any money or time on a dead horse. besides, computers are cheap these days. u dont have to buy a brand name one, just buy a generic PC (all the brand name companies use chinese parts these days anyways). u can get a decent PC for $400-$500 these days.
running vista on a p3? install linux, that is the only way you'll speed it up or drop to XP and install more RAM
Most of the time, the most basic thing which we can always do is to remove too many programs that load during startup and running in the background. You can have the latest PC spec but if there's too many programs loaded at once, especially all the antivirus program, it will still slow things down considerably.
a bit more ram, remove as many programmes as you can and run 98 or XP if no good buy a new or second hand one
Yeah, its so cheap top buy a new and good computer nowadays, going on ebay and upgrading it with better graphics etc....
