I thought this would be fun. How fast does your site load? You can be anonymous. I have an MMORPG related site. Was loading at 9seconds, down to 1.3seconds. use http://www.webpagetest.org/ to test your sites speed
I think I've read this somewhere that's why it's good to optimize, in my case wordpress cache plugins, to speed up the loading.
heres mine... Load Time First Byte Start Render Time Requests Bytes In Time Requests Bytes In First View 4.655s 1.699s 2.866s 4.655s 22 188 KB 4.655s 22 188 KB Repeat View 4.027s 1.845s 2.720s 4.027s 21 58 KB 4.027s 21 58 KB i think its OK unless you think otherwise... anyway speed is not a big factor.... still content is king...
Cordi: 4 seconds on a second view is terrible and content is still king, but watch this video by Mat Cutts http://www.youtube.com/user/googlewebmasterhelp#p/a/u/0/UbaU-p2UnkA
If I remember correctly, the loading time will be counted for only content and code, graphics not included. Google will use this as measurement only purpose and not a big factor anyway.
Gents, if you really want to know "what Google thinks about your speed", use the corresponding section in the Google Webmaster Tools. All other self-made tools can give absolutely different results to "what Google thinks about your speed".
George: google webmaster help suggest the afore mentioend website, firebug and google webmaster tools to check sitespeed. the site above is a good general barometer for all sites, including sites NOT in your google webmaster.
Ok george go troll somewhere else. A) its not my site B) you are getting way off topic. Post a site speed or gtho. and for clarification here is the announcement video from Google, posted May 2nd 2010 to their WebmasterHelp YouTube channel - the website is mentioned in this video. http://www.youtube.com/user/googlewebmasterhelp#p/u/3/OpMfx_Zie2g
that's very important there are tools online that will compress the code of your site for you and saving you some loading time you can save in CSS HTML picture quality and unessessary codes search for html and css compressors
TakyDine: good point. this tool seems to work pretty good: http://www.peterbe.com/plog/blogitem-040406-1/compressor
