Specific topic or niche keyword?

Is it better to make blog and write constantly about specific topic (rich text and often published posts) or search for niche keyword related to that topic (keyword phrase with low quality search results, optimize it and try to get 1st place in results) and then make blog?

...talking about traffic from Search engines, of course:rolleyes:

Niche Related keyword will typically bring visitors with a stronger likelyhood to read your blog.

So it's better to search for keyword phrase with bad search results and try to be first than write, write, write and expect who-knows-what?

I'll explain with flower example :D
    What is better to do:

    1. Make blog and just post and post about flowers. You don't have targeted keywords but you have a good topic (time mostly spend on writing, not searching).

    2. Search and search for keyword phrase in topic flowers. When you see that phrase cutting flowers in spring is good, optimize blog for that keywords (time mostly spend on searching, not writing)

So what is better, according to your experience?

Either scenario will work well. If you just go ahead and write lots of content you will naturally cover different keywords, but it will likely take much longer to get much traffic. Thoroughly researching keywords first is a better scenario. Then you can pick and chooce exactly which keywords you want to target based on things like search volume and competitiveness. You would get traffic much faster because you are targeting keywords that both have search volume and are not too difficult to rank for. You also wouldn't waste your time writing about keywords that are too difficult to get traffic from. In seo it always helps to do a lot of research before you start anything.

Actually its tough to keep writing about only one thing whole of time, but it is successful though.
