1. There is a built in feature in the disk management to shrink and expand the existing disk partitions on the fly. Though this does not have all the features of similar paid software, but it should be sufficient for most of the Windows users. 2. Totally revamped Kernel similar to Windows 2008 R2. The OS is very stable. 3. IE8 is integrated in the OS and its well known that IE8 is better than IE6. 4. Windows 7 works better with Multi core Processors and multithreaded applications compared to the previous versions. Get your work done faster. 5. Windows 7 has better power saving (with the latest processors) compared to the previous versions. It is designed to take advantage of the lastest instruction sets in the latest processors for maximum power saving. Watch a complete DVD movie and "more" while flying. 6. You have the option to enable IIS 7 in Windows 7. 7. I Noticed that browsing is much faster on Windows 7 with the same broadband connection (compared to Windows XP). 8. I did some testing and noticed that Windows 7 is far less vulnerable to viruses and trojans compared to Windows XP. Probably its because of the revamped Kernel and higher security. 9. Windows 7 integrates better into the Windows 2008 R2 Domain. 10. The Graphics is much better compared to Windows XP.
The disk management was also in Vista. Also, the faster browsing may be just a placebo effect. Your internet did not get faster but the browser was loading faster.
Windows 7 supports virtualization, so you can run Windows-XP-compatible applications. XP mode will allow you to run your existing applications on a Windows 7 system. Windows XP Mode is an add-on for Windows 7 Professional and higher that comes in two parts, each of which has its own setup. The first is Windows Virtual PC, a new version of Microsoft’s free desktop virtualization platform, and the second is Virtual Windows XP itself, which is a virtual hard drive pre-loaded and licensed with Windows XP Service Pack 3. XP Mode will be available to Windows 7 Professional, Enterprise and Ultimate users.
I enjoy the new pinning features and taskbar. Helps with productivity a bit (although I had my own solution in XP).
aha.... thats cool...... love to know new about Window 7. The best thing i like about windows 7 is its high performance with new features.
I love their new task bar. I like how it allows you to pin stuff to it and within that pin, you can have sub pins.. . i know im confusing you, but i dont know how else to label it. lol
Wanna know a lil trick in Win7? First create a new folder anywhere (in any partition and inside any folder) Then rename the folder to this: GodMode.{ED7BA470-8E54-465E-825C-99712043E01C} It will then transformed into a control panel icon and when clicked shows you all the settings for you to play around with.
Yes we all agree that W7 rules but I just couldn't get used to new Superbar although it looks awesome. Mine is like it was in XP. Imagine if you have WLM with 10 people at the time, I just can't see all the notifications. And the search is bit confusing to me, I prefer good ol' from the XP, but I'll guess that I'll have to get used to it. Anyway, W7 rocks
I like the most is the GUI. Special features / Additional software I noticed compared to XP is "Windows DVD Maker" simply superb to create Video DVD.
I think these 6 features are good in Windows 7. 1. Desktop Introducing improved taskbar previews, bigger icons, pinning, and creative ways to personalize. 2. HomeGroup Takes the headache out of home networking, so it's easier to share files and printers. 3. Jump Lists Speedy access to your favorite pictures, songs, websites, and documents. 4. Snap A quick (and fun) new way to resize and compare windows on your desktop. 5. Windows Live Essentials Must-have software for your PC-free! Get Mail, Photo Gallery, and other favorites. 6. Windows Search At last, searching your PC is as simple as searching the web.
