I've a site that is fully in Spanish and am wanting to trade links, will it be fine to have links that are in English from my site to others? Or do I need to do something, like seperate pages etc.. Tips, ideas etc.. welcome. Ian
i don't believe anyone has ever done a study on this, but my experience tells me that there is no difference (a link is a link is a link). as you probably have seen, the spanish seo sector is a few years behind the english sector (tools are less developed, research is behind, stats are less worked, etc.)
una pregunta muy interesante no ? I agree with Loki, a link is a link. I don't think a search engine will be too bothered about the language. However it would be interesting to know what happens with the keywords in the anchor text being in a different language (if you mean you are linking in English to other Spanish sites) - can google do the translation (it does cover a great many countries in the world) and then see the significance or will all be lost in the translation as it were ?
logic tells me that if the linked text is for 'libros' then that's what you'll get a boost on. to google 'libros' is just a word with 6 letters, it doesn't *mean* anything to google. things might get weird when you start adding accents, ñ, umlauts, etc, but from what i've seen (in spanish only), gg seems to ignore accents.
I have a Spanish site #1 at yahoo and msn. Almost all links are from English pages, of course, using Spanish anchor text.
