Does a sudden increase in backlinks to a site invites penalisation from google ? How many backlinks are enough for a month ?
If the increase is from media sites and authority blogs, it doesn't invite penalization. Most high profile startups get a lot of backlinks within days of launch. I have made around 5-10 links per day from blogs (posts + blogroll) for a couple site without getting any penalty. I haven't tried a 'sudden increase' yet. Will probably try it out with a throwaway domain soon
I've been building links on a steady pace: about 5-10 new links per day, and 5-10 new domains per week. At that clip, I'm increasing between 150-300 links per month, and about 20-40 new unique domains per month. Slow & Steady Wins The Race.
If you build 120 related and very quality full with mix page rank..... i think it's enough for your site Cheers!
800 plus within first 3 weeks with no probs. You gotta know what you are doing though! For newbs, 100 a week I reckon
If your spamming your link like 500 times on 1 page, Google will pick that up and probably won't count it or penalise you for it. However, genuine links that are on content rich pages are worth a lot so try to get mentioned in a public community forum or something .
Why are you left alone dear ! What forum signatures , social bookmarking , youtube , flickr for ? Use them ..................
I noticed forums that are related to your niche bring back the best results. It doesn't take much time to make posts, it's just finding the forums that allow live links in sigs, that's the problem.
It depends on dofollow or nofollow. Nofollow links are not crawled by google and will not be counted as a backlink in google's eye. So getting thoudands of nofollow link will not effect you in google's eye. Controlling your dofollow backlinks is essential as what others explained.
No! You are wrong... those links are visited by SE otherwise how linked site become indexed. "nofollow" attribute means that site owner don't trust the site he links to but SE bot can crawl the link freely.
I did not say it won't be visited by Search Engine (SE). Nofollow links will not be visited by Google Search Engine. Nofollow links still visited by other SE like Yahoo, MSN, AOL, etc. Try to digg deeper about Dofollow and nofollow.
Actually no one knows exactly whether crawl Google nofollowed links or no. Here it is interested topic from other forum.
I should have give you the note with the proof instead: Check out http://www.google.com/support/webmasters/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=96569 It shows that google don't crawl nofollow links.
