Sending emails to the yahoogroups member is this consirdered spamming?coz i am a member of a yahoogroups and i have notice that our member is now 5,000 so if i send them an email with invitation to visit my website is this considered spamming?tnx!
I would say that it depends on your email. If your email and the website link is relevant and useful to the subject of the group - it isnt spam. If your just sending an email to get people to click, i think you are abusing your membership in the group - and you might get kicked from the group.
ok tnx for your reply...another Question guys is the SE prohibiting this kind of marketing strategy ?coz as far as i know they are happy for email coz most of my post messages are tips in web designing.. tnx a lot!
I'm trying to figgure out if there is anything useful on that site he wants to share with the Yahoo! group or if it's just a wonderful dating/viagra/p0rn sort of resource
Not sure if they changed it, but the way Yahoo Groups used to work is that the members could decide whether to get emails or not when someone posts a new message to the group. So if you post a message to the group, it only goes out to the members that have it set up to receive. There's nothing wrong about posting message in a Yahoo Group as long as you follow the rules that the group owner set up (which is usually that the message you are posting is on topic with the group). You may want to check if you are allowed to post a link in that message first though. If things have changed and you are talking about sending emails to all members (even those set up not to receive), then I think that would definitely be spam.
actually i just want to share my blog which all about digital arts and web designing... and the groups is for web designers.
That's actually incorrect dude. If you haven't opted in to receive the email, then it's unsolicited, period. I get what you are trying to say though. If the email you send to the correspondence is relevant to them, they won't care so much...
