Recently one of my paid review directory using phpld 3.2 got heavy spam submission.

It looks its spamming technique is quite advanced.

About 200 websites with different emails, owner names, well written descriptions sent to correct category. They are all featured submission! It is automatic for sure since it came up in a short time. After I track its IP and banned it, it will show up with another IP and just won't stop!!! No payment of course.

I turned off the submit page as a result.

Interesting - I always hear how advanced 3.2 is and how spamming is virtually eliminated by just upgrading.

I also get very few spam submissions regularly, but not as much as yours, some people always submit without paying the review fees. You can try Rob's spamguard, it works well with v3.2 too. :)

Some big-time spammers are really on the prawl. Some-one is also toying with me -- I have 2 directories effected.

My dbestdir has same phenomenon as you- perfect submisiion ( looks professional) from different IPs/e-mails but no-payment.

All submission type are FREE:eek: - though the submit does not show the FREE option.

Then I checked Payment setting of the directory and found that- I had FREE submission option ON . :( Now I have turned it off.

Obviously -these guys are professionals and using advanced softwares.

My another new directory (shopping niche) -- has certainly dis-appointed some one who is toying with me with submission - titled Thank You:mad: and same site but everytime different IP.

These SPAMMERs prevent me from opening a FREE directory only for quality sites:( - no wonder I had to make a directory paid within 48 hrs of launching though I intended to keep it free.

Yeah, just enable the captcha. I don't think they can go around that.
    Can they?

Sounds to me like a submission company doing it ...
as the most notorious "spammer" sends .ro and total garbage, Not clean
good proper sites in their proper categories... :p

Turn off the notices sent of sites submitted in your phpld admin panel so
that it wont reach your email and cross reference with paypal to see whom
truelly paid for their reviews ;)

If you have 3.2 then just hit the Main checkbox and delete all 200 sites that where
submitted within a few seconds and do New "Rejection Notices" to any that have the
correct email addresses attached by the ....spammer or submit co thats doing it

    PS in the meantime...
Do yourself and those clients wishing a good review a favor and turn on your submit page again :)
(That which don't kill you only makes ya stronger)

    thx
    malcolm

I enabled captcha and can't stop this technique.

One DP fellow pmed me for wrongly putting my directory into "free directory" batch. I accepted his apology because it was free directory quite a while ago. So it was not spam but I was surprised for his software. Please don't sell your software to everyone
